Alkimos crash: Man saved from burning car after vehicle smashes into beer garden of The Landing

A 25-year-old man had to be cut from his car after it hit a building and burst into flames on Saturday evening.

The car crashed into the beer garden of The Landing just after 6.30pm on the corner of Marmion Avenue and Sanderling Street in Alkimos.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, extinguishing the fire before using ‘jaws of life’ to get the man out of the vehicle.

At 7pm, firefighters removed the car’s roof and took 30 minutes to free the man, who received serious injuries and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage of the incident is asked to contact police.
