An Eternals star almost spoiled the Marvel movie at Comic-Con

Marvel Cinematic Universe newcomer Salma Hayek says she has almost been pampered Eternal at the San Diego Comic-Con years before the Marvel movie hit theaters. Hayek, who was present when Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige formally announced Eternal and its star-studded cast at the San Diego Comic-Con 2019, reminiscent of her quiet conversation with director Chloe Zhao about the “secret” Marvel movie. See you on Graham Norton Show prior to the release on November 5 of Eternal, The Ajak actress reflects on how she should be careful not to spoil the film before and after its grand unveiling at the SDCC:

“I remember talking to the director for the first time in a hotel room, where they do [Comic-Con] in San Diego, where all people dress up as Halloween when it’s not Halloween. It was all completely surreal, “Hayek said.” And when I talk to her, I’m Mexican, I talk loud … and I start asking her questions, and she says, ‘Shhh!’ I say, ‘What ?!’ [She says], ‘They can hear us. And in the script, it’s a secret. ‘”

They were alone, Hayek remembers, but Zhao warned that eavesdroppers could listen in through the walls.

“‘Next door! You have to be very careful. Everyone knows we’re talking about the new Marvel movie they could be [listening] through the walls, ‘”Hayek recalled his intimate conversation with Nomadeland Manager. “She was serious because they actually do. So it was really weird. But I love it now that I feel at home.”

Hayek’s role as Ajak, the wise and spiritual leader of the Eternal, was kept so secret that hers Hitman’s wife bodyguard co-star Samuel L. Jackson called her playfully out to keep her Marvel role a secret.

“It was awful, because when I made that movie, I still swore secrecy, and nobody knew it. And they were all talking about their Marvel stuff, and [Hitman co-star and Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds] asked him, for now Deadpool [going to be in the MCU]”, Hayek said Cartoon. “I was not sitting with that confidence. I was bragging. I so wanted them to know … I thought, ‘Oh, I guess I’ll get fired if I just tell these two.’ ”

Pressured by Jackson, who made his own top-secret Marvel debut as SHIELD director Nick Fury in a post-credit scene that ended 2008’s Iron Man, says Hayek Avengers and Captain Marvel the star found out she had joined the Marvel family.

“One day I was sitting with Sam after they talked a lot about it and he says, ‘So how much are they going to pay you?’ or something like that, or ‘Oh, so who are you?’ “Hayek said. “No, I did not say anything. I say, ‘What are you talking about?’ He says, “Come on, I’ve seen you, you’re in the Marvel movie, but you do not want to say it because they said you should not say it. It’s okay, I’m part of the family. ‘ It was incredible. ”

Starring Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh, Don Lee, Barry Keoghan, Angelina Jolie and Kit Harington, Marvel’s Eternal opens only in theaters on November 5th.
