Diver dies after being pulled up by water in Sydney’s south

A diver has died after being pulled out of the water at Kamay Botany Bay National Park in southern Sydney.

The man was rescued from the water near Cape Solander around noon. 12.15 while spectators tried to revive him before ambulance NSW paramedics took over.

Several ambulance crews, including a rescue helicopter, as well as police were called to the scene.

NSW ambulance inspector David Matthews said those around him were doing an “incredible job” of bringing the man ashore and immediately commencing CPR, describing their efforts as “remarkable in devastating circumstances”.

“It was a very sad scene for everyone involved, our thoughts are with the patient’s friends and family,” he said.

The police have yet to identify the man, and a crime scene has been set up where a report is prepared for the forensic pathologist.
