Fire near Okanagan Golf
UPDATE: 8:09 p.m.
The Kelowna Fire Department dispatch centre received multiple 911 calls reporting a structure fire in the 1800 block of Country Club Drive.
Upon arrival, smoke and flame were visible on the back side balcony of a six-story apartment building with difficult access.
Crews attacked the interior to the sixth floor as two suites had to be entered on the fifth and sixth floor where the fire was extinguished.
No residents were home in either unit when the fire broke out.
No injuries were reported as there was extensive water damage from the sprinkler system.
10 crew members and two engines remain on scene.
A fire has broken out at 1875 Country Club Pinnacle Pointe near the Okanagan Golf course in Kelowna.
Castanet was notified by an onlooker at the scene at around 4:40 p.m. and they say it appears to be a kitchen fire that started in one of the buildings before later engulfing the balcony.
It appears fire crews are already on scene doing what they can to douse the flames.
Castanet Media has reached out to the Kelowna Fire Department for details, but have yet to hear a response.
It is unknown at this point how the fire started and if anyone has been hurt.
