Four people face court charged with murder, arson after Laidley stabbing

Four people have been charged with murder, attempted murder and arson after the death of a man in Laidley on Monday night.

Two 19-year-old women and a 24-year-old man had their case mentioned in Ipswich Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

They did not appear in person or via video link.

The case was set down for a committal mention in July.

Another 19-year-old man had his case heard in Caboolture Magistrates Court, which was adjourned to be mentioned in Ipswich on Thursday.

The four were arrested on Tuesday afternoon.

It came after police were called to a house in Patrick Street just before 10pm Monday in response to reports a man had been stabbed several times.

A fire had also allegedly been lit in the Lockyer Valley house and was extinguished by emergency crews.

A 48-year-old man died at the scene a short time later.

Public assistance needed

Police are urging the public to come forward, particularly with information on any suspicious vehicles seen in the area on Monday night.

Acting Detective Superintendent Garry Watts said a sedan and SUV had been seized.

“If members of the public have any CCTV footage they believe may assist, if they could make contact with the police,” he said.

While police initially believed the alleged perpetrators were four men, new information meant two 19-year-old women were charged.

All of the arrests were made in separate locations.

It is unknown if the accused were known to the man and his partner but police are investigating if drugs were involved.
