Authorities have given the green light for Canberra Racing Club to host 1,000 players in Thoroughbred Park on Melbourne Cup Day. With COVID still circulating in the community and high and ever-increasing vaccination rates, the event could set the tone for the era after the lockdown in Canberra. ACT Health registered seven new cases on Sunday. There are still 210 active cases in the area. There are nine people hospitalized with the virus, five of whom are in intensive care, five of whom are in need of ventilation.
