Live updates as police and firefighters search the Haverfordwest River for reports of people ‘in distress’

Police and firefighters are searching the river at Haverfordwest.

According to the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, they were called at. 9 this morning to an incident by the river.

Dyfed Powys police have issued a brief statement asking people to avoid the area.

It read: “We are currently dealing with an incident near Quay Street, Haverfordwest. Please avoid the area for the time being and find an alternative route for travel. Thank you.”

Our on-site reporter said they are blocking the area near the council offices.

There have been unconfirmed local reports that a corpse was seen in the water, but there has been no confirmation of this.

WalesOnline has contacted Dyfed Powys Police for updates but has not yet received a response.
