London Stansted Airport: Police block off part of the terminal as ‘suspicious package’ analyzed by explosives experts

A roadblock has been set up while military explosives experts assess a ‘suspicious package’ at Stansted Airport.

Passengers at Essex airport were evacuated this afternoon after reports that a suspicious package was found in the security area of ​​the airport terminal (October 30).

As a result, a ‘partial evacuation’ of the airport terminal took place around 13.30 this afternoon.

To confirm the evacuation on Twitter, an airport spokesman wrote to concerned passengers: “Following reports of a suspicious package in the security area, a partial evacuation of the terminal is taking place.

“Essex Police are controlling the response and will soon provide an update on the situation.”

Shortly afterwards, Essex police confirmed that they were present at the airport and that they had set up a roadblock while the investigation takes place.

They confirmed that passengers were evacuated and brought to “a security position”.

The force added that military explosives experts will assess the package.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We are currently at Stansted Airport following concerns about a suspicious package in the security area. A roadblock has been set up.

“Passengers have been evacuated from that area of ​​the airport and brought to a safe position. Military explosives experts will assess the package.”
