A diver has died in Sydney after being pulled up by the water unconscious. The man dived off the coast of Inscription Point near Kurnell in Sydney’s south on Saturday when he ran into trouble. He did not respond as he was pulled out of the water just after noon while other divers attempted resuscitation before ambulance personnel took over. Despite their efforts, the man could not be revived. NSW ambulance inspector David Matthews said spectators did an incredible job of getting the man ashore and immediately commencing CPR. “They were remarkable in devastating circumstances,” he said in a statement. “As we enter the summer months, it is important to understand the dangers of the sea and waterways. It is imperative to have a safety plan in case something goes wrong.” The man has not yet been formally identified and police are establishing a crime scene while they prepare a report for the forensic pathologist.
