Man hospitalised with serious neck injuries following Swindon town centre ‘disorder’

A man has been hospitalised with serious neck injuries after an altercation in the town centre on Sunday afternoon.

The victim, in his 30s, has been taken to hospital. His injuries are described as “serious”, but not life-threatening.

Wiltshire Police then carried out a full search of the local area and arrested a 30-year-old local man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He is currently being held at Gablecross police station.

This evening, the seating area outside Costa Coffee remains cordoned off as forensic officers comb the area.

Detective Inspector Rachel Hardy, from Swindon CID, said: “I know this incident will have caused concern amongst the local community, particularly given that it occurred during a busy Sunday afternoon in the town centre.

“I am pleased to report that we have made a swift arrest and now have a suspect in custody.

“Our enquiries are ongoing, and we would urge anyone who witnessed the incident and who has not yet spoken to police, to please make contact.”
