Manchester United’s tactical change vs Tottenham solved their two biggest problems

Ole Gunnar Solskjær would have feared the idea that at some point in the shining Spurs Stadium, vitriol would rain down on the manager from the stands.

This was the first time Manchester United played here in front of fans, and the impressive South Stand with 17,500 supporters in a single row is an impressive sight.

And during the second half in north London, the songs began. “You do not know what you are doing”, quickly followed by “Ole is sitting at the wheel”. Only this time it was Tottenham fans who accused Nuno Espirito Santo of being out in his depth, and after a week in which Liverpool, Leeds and Manchester City fans have mocked the man who currently controls United, it was this one time the away player who regained the song as their own.

This 3-0 win is perhaps only a postponement of execution given the damage to Solskjær’s tenure last week, and reservations should be made for the fact that Spurs were lousy, but to react the way they did was enormous impressive for United and their besieged boss.
