Ravenhill Road Accident: Emergency services participate instead of serious collision

Emergency services are on the scene of a serious collision in Belfast.

Police, Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and NI Fire and Rescue Service were called to Ravenhill Road on Saturday night.

The road is still blocked in both directions and diversions are in place.

In a statement, a PSNI spokesman said: “Redirects are in place at Albertbridge Road and Shamrock Street, please seek alternative routes for your journey.”

There are no further details about the accident at this time.

Meanwhile, police have arrested two men after a laser beam was allegedly aimed at a plane in the Dunmore area of ‚Äč‚Äčnorthern Belfast last night.

Inspector McBride said: “Around 11.30pm last night, a laser pen was aimed at a police helicopter.

“Two men were arrested on suspicion of endangering the safety of an aircraft.

“One man has been released pending a report to the Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPS) and the other remains in police custody.”
