Quincy Jones once claimed that the Beatles were bad musicians – but that must have been aimed at everyone else Ringo Starr … because the guy was clearly ahead of his time.
Check out this viral TikTok video from @grahamethedrummer, which tells about what the band’s drummer could have done on their famous tunes … and what he actually did on the final product. It’s pretty obvious – RS went beyond their songs.
As someone who does not understand much about music, and who does not particularly understand the Beatles, this made me make a nice “Ahhhh!” pic.twitter.com/qeUtCJCcsy

Graham claims that it would have been easy for Ringo to ring it on the drums if he wanted to – and show that he could have played to their tunes with simple drum beats that kept pace, but instead … chose ingenious patterns that raised the arrangements.
He shows what one can see a basic drummer do for tracks like “I Feel Fine”, “Ticket to Ride”, “Getting Better All the Time” and “Come Together” … and then contrasts it with what Ringo actually is made in real life … unique drumming that made the songs stand out.
TikToker compares this level of drumming to a “superpower” … and every time he notices, “What Ringo did was much cooler.” The internet seems to agree, BTW – singing RS’s praises … with some saying he’s grossly underrated in the pantheon of drummers.
John and Paul apparently got (and still gets for the most part) a lot of brilliance … but this guy put WORK in behind all the guitar / bassists.
