LA controller Ron Galperin’s recent report, which urges politicians to make sweeping changes to the city’s sidewalk repair program, has quickly garnered attention from city leaders, community advocates, local and national media, and residents throughout Los Angeles. The City Council’s Personnel and Animal Welfare Committee must hear a report and recommendations at its meeting today. The goal of Controller Galperin’s report is to get LA’s 9,000 miles of pedestrian crossings fixed faster.
Selected media coverage:
“It’s no secret to anyone who’s ever walked the streets of Los Angeles that our sidewalks are in terrible shape,” said Inspector Galperin. “But our sidewalk repair program is broken and the city is moving too slowly to make any difference. Our leaders must take a new path rather than make LA a more walkable, accessible and safe city for all.”
