Country stars aiding kids
A summer songwriters festival with roots in Penticton is back for another year of music and fundraising.
97 South Song Sessions has gifted eight VIP tickets to the festival to use as a fundraiser for Cassie + Friends, an organization with a mission to transform the lives of children living with arthritis and other rheumatic diseases.
This year the tickets will be raffled off in a donate and be entered to win format. Everyone who makes a donation of $25 or more before June 30 will be entered into a draw for the VIP package for the magical music performance event on July 22-23.
The BC interior initiative stated that In Canada, every three in 1,000 children, of all ages, live with the devastating impacts of arthritis. Joint pain, decreased mobility, severe fatigue and the need for aggressive and costly treatments dramatically impact the child’s everyday quality of life and the life of the entire family.
Many families must travel four-plus hours to access the clinic in Penticton, with more severely affected children requiring travel to BC Children’s hospital, some up to every four to six weeks.
With funds raised this summer, Cassie + Friends will establish a free equipment cupboard and family fund at the Penticton Arthritis Centre to offer immediate, direct support to their 250-plus patient families as they navigate and manage their child’s condition.
Event pass holders will enjoy two 90-minute shows on back-to-back nights featuring four songwriters per night playing their hits and telling the stories behind them, hosted by media personality Paul McGuire.
