Two men have been arrested in West Yorkshire as enquiries continue into an alleged hit and run which claimed the life of a mum-of-three.
Justine Wedgwood, 50, from the Boosbeck area, sadly died after the incident at 10.45pm on Sunday night on Boosbeck Road, Skelton Green, during which she received serious injuries. Cleveland Police launched an investigation and on Tuesday released a CCTV still of a silver Volvo XC90 car which allegedly did not stop at the scene.
Hours later, the force revealed that two men had been arrested in the West Yorkshire area – a 33-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and a 37-year-old man on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The full police statement reads: “Two men have been arrested in West Yorkshire as enquiries continue into an alleged hit and run incident on Sunday night in which 50-year-old Justine Wedgwood from the Boosbeck area sadly died. Our thoughts remain with her family at this very difficult time.
“We know the incident has impacted the local community and we would like to thank residents for their support and assistance. A 33-year-old man faces questioning on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and a 37-year-old man will be interviewed on suspicion of assisting an offender. Enquiries are on-going.
“Police are still appealing for any information concerning the location or sightings of a silver Volvo XC90 Licence plate SV04 TFE. Please contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number quoting Ref 105462.”
Much-loved Justine leaves behind three children, three grandchildren, a brother and a father, who are all grieving her loss. Tributes and flowers were left at the scene on Boosbeck Road in Skelton Green on Monday afternoon.
One heartfelt message read: “I have no words. I can’t believe I’m never going to see your gorgeous face again.” Justine’s family has said their family will “never be the same again” following the incident.
In a tribute released by Cleveland Police on behalf of Justine’s family, they said: “Our family will never be the same again, we are confused, lost and truly heartbroken. We will be strong for Nyla, Jimmy and Robby your three babies and keep your memory alive, you are back with nana Val now both watching over us.”
